TO BLEND

To determine the starting point of our research, we started by looking at the website of the festival that takes place there: Horst. A brief analysis allowed us to understand the ideology behind each of their interventions, in other words, their approach, their vision. This can be summarised in one word: „(to) blend“, i.e. to bring together different areas, disciplines and histories around one activity, around one state of mind.Because we wanted to build on what has already been done, we looked for a way to translate this philosophy into our project: an approach that brings people together on the basis of similarities.Faced with the existing pizza oven, which is too „small“, we imagined two scenarios. First, to demolish part of it to enlarge and improve it. Secondly, we could restore the existing oven to give it a new lease of life and plan a second construction to fill in the gaps in the first. We chose the second option, which we believe is a continuation of the direction the festival organisers have been taking: looking for a constructive dialogue between the existing and the new.So we decided to keep the all existing, including the tables and the tent. Our proposal is thus based on two points:First, restoring the existing oven.Secondly, the realisation of a second construction containing an oven, complementary to the first. The new and the existing complement each other.Just as artists are given a stage to perform on, we have the idea of creating a pavilion dedicated to food: as a stage for the pizzaiolo. An additional pavilion among the others in a green setting.
