The positive in negative
Today we have a large consumption of sand in the construction industry. We could compare the use of sand to a 27 meter high and 27 meter wide wall around the Equator each year. Inefficiency also became a big problem. For example, sand is mined in Australia and unloaded it the Emirates to build skyscrapers. Our concept makes the user dwell on this. We started from a strong awareness between maximum use of negative and positive. We dig away a layer of earth that slopes slightly and collect all the earth in a heap directly in front of the 'void'. The tension between the two is reinforced by a wadi in between. Water insects could find a new home, but besides that, we sow wild flowers on the excavated surface and make a strong contrast with the surrounding. The negative becomes a sign of new life. The heap is one fluid gesture to relax on and contains a hidden pizza oven at the end. Humans, animals and plants live here next to each other. A small paradise at the site of Horst.
