THE ASIAT PATTERN
Océane Baskens, Aurélie Checchi, Rosa Maria Lueg
This year the question is: how to work with the existing? The pizza oven built last year was designed and constructed by the students from local and organic materials. Our design ambition is to fulfill the renovation requests, with few but effective interventions that meet the circular and local standard. We have to look closely at what works and what doesn‘t work for the oven and its environment. Our concept consists of three components, the wall – the oven – the pillar, that are strongly connected by the roof structure. The roof structure leans on the wall and covers the oven as a protection and rests further on the pillar. It’s made up of triangles, some of which, are covered by wooden branches. This way the working facilities are not, or are as little as possible, affected by weather conditions. The outer layer of the oven has many cracks and needs to be repaired. The oven will get a new protective layer of broken ceramic tiles, which are brought together to form a mosaic with the help of an organic plaster made from materials found on site. The mosaic design has the potential to become the face of the Horst festival. Our main goal? Organizing a successful pizza day with only good vibes.
